News Bulletins
The Sanatorium Board of Manitoba was founded in the early 1900s when a group of citizens organized to establish a tuberculosis sanatorium at Ninette. The Sanatorium Board of Manitoba was officially created by the Government of Manitoba’s Sanatorium Board of Manitoba Act on February 8, 1904. In 1975, the Manitoba Lung Association was founded as a division of the Sanatorium Board of Manitoba and thereafter became the public-facing entity of the San Board.
In July of 2020, the Government of Manitoba granted a certificate of corporate continuance, making The Lung Association, Manitoba Inc. the official corporate name. The Sanatorium Board of Manitoba officially ceased to exist when The Sanitorium Board Act was repealed in June 2022.
The News Bulletin was a periodical published regularly by the Sanatorium Board of Manitoba between 1959 and 1972 that targeted patients in the Sanatorium Board hospitals and the public. The Bulletin features articles and photos about patients, events, and programs in the San Board hospitals in ways that promoted the ‘good work’ of San Board and its staff.
