MITHP Take-Down Policy

Take Down Request Instructions

The Manitoba Indigenous Tuberculosis History Project (MITHP) respects an individual's right to privacy. Therefore, we allow users to request that a record be modified or removed from the MITHP’s public-facing website for privacy or other reasons. For example, you may wish to request a take down and/or have your information removed or changed from a record if your name or face appears in a record currently online at https://indigenoustbhistory.ca and you do not want that information online.

To make a take down request, send us an email at tbphotos@uwinnipeg.ca with your best contact information as well as the title and reference code of the record you wish to have reviewed. MITHP staff will review your request and contact you within ten business days to discuss the outcome.

Once a take down request is reviewed, one of three things could happen:

  • The record will be removed from our website but stored in our archival collection.
  • The record will be reposted to our website, but with the sensitive information removed.
  • The record will be reposted to our website with no changes.

Notice Regarding Collection, Use, and Disclosure of Personal Information by the Manitoba Indigenous Tuberculosis History Project

The personal information you are providing as part of your request to review a record or records is being collected under the The University of Winnipeg Act and 36(1)(b) of The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA). The information you provide as part of your request will be used by the university for the purpose of taking down the specified records you have noted in your request from the Manitoba Indigenous Tuberculosis History Project website, and to communicate with you regarding your take down request. Your personal information will not be used or disclosed for other purposes, unless permitted by FIPPA or the The University of Winnipeg Act.
